Getting started

The setup guide on the Dashboard walks you through these steps. This article covers the same steps in more detail.

1. Turn on the app embed

The app embed loads MOA Review on every page of your theme. Every other widget needs it.

  1. Open Widgets in the app.
  2. Next to MOA Review app embed, choose Turn on. Your theme editor opens with the embed ready.
  3. Save the theme.

2. Add the Product reviews block

  1. In Widgets, choose Add to theme next to Product reviews.
  2. The theme editor opens on your product template. Place the block where you want the reviews, then save the theme.
  3. Optional: add the Star rating block under the product title in the same way.

You can also add blocks by hand: in Shopify go to Online Store › Themes › Customize, then use App embeds for embeds and Add block (or Add section) › Apps for blocks. See Storefront widgets for every widget.

3. Choose how reviews are published

  1. Open Rules & Rewards.
  2. Under Who can write reviews, pick whether anyone can write a review or only buyers.
  3. Under Publishing, pick a rule for How new reviews are published. New stores start with I approve every review.
  4. Choose Save.

4. Get review request emails ready

  1. In Rules & Rewards, under Review requests, choose when a request starts (fulfilled, delivered or paid) and how many days to wait.
  2. Open Request Emails and make sure First request is on.
  3. Check the email text and send yourself a test with Send test email.

5. Collect your first review

  1. Open Requests and choose Create test link.
  2. Pick a product and open the link (Try the review page) to write a review yourself.
  3. Find it in Reviews and publish it if it is pending.
Test links never send emails and are not counted in your response rate.
