Record packages
Scan the shipping label to start, pack, and scan it again to save. This article covers the recording modes, command barcodes and recording a label again.
Record a package
- Pick your name under Packer name on the packing screen. Type and Location come from your lists too. Product and Order No. are optional.
- Scan the shipping label. The status changes to Recording.
- Pack the order in front of the camera.
- Scan the same label again, scan the STOP barcode, choose Record Stop or press Esc. The video is saved.
If you scan a different label while recording, the current video is saved and a new one starts. You can also type a tracking number in Input barcode and press Enter.
Each video shows the tracking number, the date and time to the second, the packer and the location, burned into the picture. The tracking number is also shown large in the corner, so it can be read even when the label is small.
Recording modes
Pick a mode under Mode on the packing screen. The mode can't be changed while recording.
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Scan to start · same label again to stop | Scan the label to start. Scan the same label again (or STOP) to save. This is the default. |
| Continuous | Scan the label to start. Scanning the next label saves this video and starts the next one. |
| Label at the end | Choose Start recording (or scan anything) to begin. After packing, scan the shipping label. The video is saved under that tracking number. |
| Label at the end · continuous | The same, and the next recording starts by itself after saving. |
| Return recording | Scan the return label, then each returned item, then the same label again. The video is saved with the list of scanned items. |
| Inspection (items vs order) | Scan the label, then each item. Items are checked against an order list you import. Wrong or extra items are flagged with a sound. |
| Camera auto-detect (no scanner) | Hold the label to the camera to start. The video is saved a few seconds after the label leaves the view. Works only in browsers that can read barcodes from the camera; the packing screen tells you if yours can't. |
| Snapshot (one photo) | Each label scan saves one photo instead of a video. Uses the least space. |
Inspection order list
Inspection mode needs a list of what each order should contain. It is kept on the PC where you import it.
- On the packing screen, open Settings and find Inspection order list (this PC).
- Choose Sample CSV to see the format: one item per row, with a tracking number column, a barcode column, and optional name and quantity columns.
- Choose Import CSV and pick your file.
When you save an inspection, it gets a result: ok (all items scanned), incomplete (items missing) or error (a wrong or extra item was scanned).
Command barcodes
Choose Print command barcodes on the packing screen and keep the sheet at the table. Packers can scan these instead of clicking.
| Barcode | What it does |
|---|---|
| RECORD STOP | Saves the current recording. Same as Record Stop or Esc. |
| RECORD CANCEL | Deletes the current recording. Nothing is saved. |
| PAUSE / RESUME | Pauses the recording, and resumes it on the next scan. |
| REDO | Lets you record a label again. See below. |
Record a label again
By default each tracking number is recorded only once per kind (pack, return, inspection, photo), across all packing PCs of your store. If you scan a label that was already recorded, the packing screen shows Already recorded with when, who and on which PC.
- Choose Record again, or scan the REDO barcode and then the label within 1 minute.
- The new video is saved next to the first one and marked (again) in lists and reports.
- To allow repeats without REDO, turn off Record each tracking number only once in the packing screen's Settings.
Automatic saving
- A recording is saved automatically when it reaches the maximum length (10 minutes unless you change it).
- If you try to close or reload the packing screen while recording, the browser asks you to confirm first.
- With Pause recording when nothing moves on, the video pauses when the table is still and resumes when something moves.
